Check out what gaming news and trailers stood out for us in our round-up of January 22nd 2018, including Dragon Ball FighterZ’s launch trailer and some new features and characters for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.
– Check out the launch trailer for Dragon Ball FighterZ ahead of its release this week
Not long to wait now Dragon Ball fans – Bandai Namco’s eagerly anticipated fighter Dragon Ball FighterZ launches this Friday on Janaury 26th. To celebrate the impending arrival, Bandai Namco have released a brand new launch trailer for the game:
They also revealed that Android 21 will be a part of the roster and gave some new details about her appearance:
“Android 21 joins Dragon Ball FighterZ with multiple unique Ultimate Attacks! Supervised by Akira Toriyama, Android 21 has an important role in the Dragon Ball FighterZ story mode. She is a mysterious scientist known for having the same knowledge as the Androids creator Dr. Gero. Connected with Android 16 her background is quite vague. What are her real intentions? Is she an ally? With her Tasting Cut Ultimate Attack, Android 21 not only drains the opponent’s energy but gains their attacks! The more you know about playing other characters, the more advantageous this attack will be! Her Meteor Ultimate Attack will allow her to shoot out a beam that changes the opponent into a cake!”
Dragon Ball FighterZ is coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on January 26th 2018.
– Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is getting new fighters and features soon
Not to leave Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 players out, Bandai Namco also revealed some new fighters and features that’ll be coming to the game soon.
“Free content will be also available in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 including a new battle system, new avatar skills and new special costumes for Dragon Ball characters! Limit Burst is the new battle system that can be used once per battle. Players can dramatically increase their ability temporally depending on the number of members in the enemy team. The type of boost will also differ based on the fighter. Some characters may power up their team members whilst some may lower the status of the opponent.
This free update will also bring a new avatar Awaken Skill with the “Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan” (SSGSS) where players will be able to feel the power of the Gods and be transformed to the infamous “Blue Form”! Finally, new swimsuits will be available for Android 18 and Videl. Let’s get prepared for the summer season!”

– Assassin’s Creed Origins’ ‘The Hidden Ones’ DLC gets a launch trailer ahead of tomorrow’s release
It’s time to gear up for a fresh visit to Ancient Egypt – Assassin’s Creed Origins’ ‘The Hidden Ones’ DLC officially launches tomorrow, and to celebrate the release Ubisoft have released a launch trailer. Check it out below:
“This story-driven expansion builds upon the growth of the Brotherhood, taking players four years after the events of Assassin’s Creed Origins, as they clash with an occupying Roman force in a new region of the world, the Sinai.
This expansion will increase the level cap to 45, allowing players to continue to upgrade and customise their character. Players will have access to four new Legendary weapons, a new outfit, two new mounts and multiple new weapons, as well as two new levels for all crafted gear. – Twin-stick shooter Aperion Cyberstorm hits the Nintendo Switch and PC next month
I love a twin-stick shooter, so I’m glad to see that Aperion Cyberstorm will be coming to Nintendo Switch and PC on February. I haven’t heard of the game before and its visual style is a little low-key, but it could still be a lot of fun – check it out in the trailer below:
“Exploding onto Nintendo Switch in a shower of screen-filling fracas’ for up to five players, Aperion Cyberstorm challenges pilots to fly through hundreds of maps across three game modes, combining dynamic abilities and elemental effects to brutal effect and endless variety. Whether playing alone or with friends, this co-op shooter will leave players breathless and wanting more – they will uncover a conspiracy in Campaign, survive waves of enemies in Onslaught and fight for the crown in Versus.”
– Psychological-thriller Past Cure gets a new teaser trailer ahead of next month’s release
So typically I wouldn’t cover a small teaser trailer, but there’s something about Past Cure that has got me intrigued. There’s not a whole lot to see, but you can check out the trailer below:
“PAST CURE tells a riveting revenge story where dreams are indistinguishable from reality, nightmares are self-aware and conspiracy runs deep. You play as Ian, a former elite soldier who lost years of his life to experimentation and torture. Dive into two seemingly merging worlds to decipher the mystery behind Ian’s telekinetic powers and degenerative mental state before it’s too late.”
PAST CURE is coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on February 23rd 2018. You can find out more about the game over on the developer’s website through this link.
