Watch out, Fortnite and PUBG – Call of Duty is back and it has come to take the battle royale throne!
Yes, it’s that time of year again: Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is now available worldwide on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. There’s a twist this year though, since there’s no single player campaign included but rather a focus on what’s trending with the all-new ‘Blackout’ mode that offers the series’ first foray into the battle royale genre.
In Blackout, the Black Ops universe comes to life in one massive battle royale experience, combining Black Ops signature combat and the biggest map in Call of Duty history. Play as fan favorite characters and battle through iconic settings in an all-out survival and elimination experience.
Whilst Blackout is the focus of this year’s entry, players will still be able to take part in traditional multiplayer matches as well as the much-loved Zombies mode.
It’ll be interesting to see if a lack of a campaign affects the game’s sales at all (some gamers just enjoy the single player experience that the series has traditionally offered after all), but I think there’s more than enough content here to to keep shooting-fans hooked to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 for a long time. The early review scores have been positive too, so it looks like Activision are on to a winner.
