The market for affordable gaming headsets is very, very crowded, but the Turtle Beach Airlite Fit For Nintendo Switch 2 stands out as one of the strongest contenders for Nintendo’s family of consoles. Coming in at under £20, this wired headset manages to deliver comfort, reliable sound, and a thoughtful design that feels of a far higher standard than its low price might suggest. It’s aimed at gamers of all ages, and surprisingly, it manages to suit both adults and children equally well.

The first thing that strikes you about the Airlite Fit is just how lightweight it is. At just 228g, it sits very easily on the head without ever feeling heavy or cumbersome, with it one of the more comfortable headsets that I’ve actually used. A lot of this is down to Turtle Beach opting for a full-plastic build, and while that might not necessarily carry the same premium feel as more expensive headsets, it still feels reassuringly sturdy. The headband adjusts with firm clicks, the earcups flex without any worry of snapping, and nothing about the general construction feels flimsy at all. The added flexibility of the headset works in its favour in other ways too, making it resilient to the sort of twisting and stretching that might happen in a household with younger players… if you know, you know.
Comfort is well considered too, with a foam strip running along the inside of the headband, preventing pressure from building up across long sessions. The earcups are padded with memory foam and finished in a soft fabric, whilst they also fit snugly around the ears and have decent noise isolation. For families, that makes this headset a versatile choice – it’s adjustable enough for smaller heads without feeling undersized for grown-ups.
“The Turtle Beach Airlite Fit proves that a gaming headset doesn’t need a premium price tag to deliver comfort, quality, and style.”
A big part of the appeal with the Airlite Fit is the official Nintendo license. However, whilst previous editions of the headset have leaned into the playful side of the original Nintendo Switch with brighter colours, the aesthetic is a lot slicker here, with an overall black design but with the colours of the Joycon controllers represented on the inside of the headset. This actually gives the headset a more premium look than its budget category would usually suggest, and it pairs really well with the Nintendo Switch 2.
Of course, it’s the sound of a headset that’s most important, and I was left really impressed with the Airlite Fit. The 40mm drivers of the speakers produce audio that is far better than expected at this price point. Gunfire and explosions come through with energy, music retains clarity in the mid and high ranges, the bass is bumping and clear, whilst directional audio is effective too, adding to the sense of immersion when exploring large game worlds. I found that it hit the perfect level of volume too, and if you want to blast out your audio, you can do so. Of course, it can’t match up to the standard of more premium (and more expensive) headsets, but the Airlite Fit REALLY packs a punch for its price-point.

The microphone is another highlight of the Airlite Fit, with it mounted on a flexible arm that features a simple flip-to-mute mechanism. Pull it down and your voice is picked up clearly, or push it up and it clicks into mute… simple. The mic captures speech with clarity and has done a good job of minimising background noise in my early testing, so with the Nintendo Switch 2 now offering built-in voice chat, it’s an ideal companion.
Of course, as expected at this price point, premium features are at minimal. Connection is handled through a standard 3.5mm jack, so there’s no wireless option, whilst the headset controls are simple: a single chunky volume wheel on the earcup. It’s minimal and simple, but as mentioned, this plays in nicely with the family appeal of the headset. As someone who is used to using headsets with a few more features though, this was the area where the Airlite Fit showed that it’s a budget choice. But hey, with that being the only area I had any qualms with, it’s very clear that Turtle Beach have a very, very impressive headset on offer here and at an equally impressive price… it’s fantastic.
Turtle Beach Airlite Fit For Nintendo Switch 2 Review
The Turtle Beach Airlite Fit For Nintendo Switch 2 proves that a gaming headset doesn’t need a premium price tag to deliver comfort, quality, and style. It may lack the bells and whistles of higher-end models of headsets out there, but its lightweight and comfortable build, impressive audio, and slick look make it an ideal choice for both adults and kids. At under £20, this is an easy recommendation for any Nintendo Switch 2 owner looking for a reliable and affordable way to upgrade their gaming experience. And hey, with it offering a 3.5mm headphone jack, it’s ideal to use on some of your other devices too…
