I’ll be completely honest up front: I know next to NOTHING about Adventure Time. My knowledge of the franchise pretty much starts and ends with recognising a few characters after seeing them online, and… that’s it. But what I do know, and absolutely love, is PowerWash Simulator 2, and with the new DLC being based around the Adventure Time franchise, I was more than happy to dive into its wacky world.

The first thing that hits you when you boot up the Adventure Time DLC is the massive visual overhaul. Instead of the realistic grime, mud, and muck of the base game, everything here is bursting with bright, cel-shaded colours. You are blasting away weird psychedelic paints and frosty ice instead of normal dirt, and it genuinely feels like you have walked straight into a cartoon… makes sense really, right? Even your tools and character suits match the fresh hand-drawn look, with it clear that a lot of care and attention was taken to ensure that this DLC really captures the visual essence of Adventure Time. I was a big fan, and at times, it made PowerWash Simulator 2 look like a completely different game.
Just don’t expect TOO much of a change when it comes to gameplay… this is very much PowerWash Simulator 2 all over again, but with a fresh look. In fact, it can feel like it simplifies things a little, especially when compared to some of the more complex levels of the base game, but there’s still plenty of enjoyment to get out of the two or three hours it’ll take you to clear the DLC.
“The Adventure Time DLC offers exactly what I was looking for: more stuff to clean in PowerWash Simulator 2.”
The pack includes five distinct locations to clean up, with players tackling the likes of a pizza joint, some themed vehicles, and a pretty impressive treehouse. The vehicle maps are over quite quickly and don’t bring a lot to the table (at least as someone unfamiliar with Adventure Time), but the locations are a lot more creative and fun, with each offering a rewarding sense of cleaning satisfaction as you whizz through them.
One brilliant touch is that the Adventure Time DLC actually gives you specific candy-themed washing equipment to deal with each mess, but it does come with a caveat: you are entirely locked out of using your top-tier, fully upgraded washers from the base game. Honestly? I was fine with this, especially since it went further in helping the Adventure Time DLC feel distinct, but those who appreciate the cleaning prowess of their fully souped-up loadout might miss their higher capabilities.

Story-wise, there is a basic whodunnit mystery happening over your intercom as you clean. There’s nothing especially deep and it’s easy to follow, which suits me fine as a newcomer, whilst you can interact with a couple of little characters scattered around the maps. Sure, they don’t actually do a whole lot, but I’m sure fans of Adventure Time will appreciate all of the nods to the show.
PowerWash Simulator 2: Adventure Time DLC Review
The Adventure Time DLC offers exactly what I was looking for: more stuff to clean in PowerWash Simulator 2. It might not reinvent the wheel when it comes to gameplay, but the wonderfully vibrant visuals and the cool little twist on your cleaning equipment ensure that it’s a treat to play through. And if you’re a fan of Adventure Time? That’s the cherry on top, even IF it isn’t a necessity to be familiar with it to have a good time with the DLC.
