We already reviewed Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection earlier this year when it released on the PlayStation 5, stating that:

“Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection is an outstanding release that brings two brilliant games to the PlayStation 5 in style. The fact that both Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: Lost Legacy are fantastic games to play anyway makes it worth investing in, but the dazzling visual and performance enhancements, the immersive DualSense features, and super-speedy load times really make this an alluring package that all PlayStation 5 gamers need to own.”

It’s pretty clear we had a lot of love for it, right? Well, the collection has also made its way to Steam, giving PC owners the chance to partake in two of the best third-person action-adventures available. It brings with it plenty of visual and performance bells and whistles that console owners will be envious of too, whilst the support for the Steam Deck is top notch.

We won’t go into detail about what makes Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection so good from a gameplay and storytelling perspective, because we’ve covered that before. You can check out our PlayStation 5 review through this link if you want to get a better idea of how the pair of games play. Instead, this review will focus on all of the goodies that the PC release brings, with it easily proving to be the best way to experience the collection (if your PC is good enough to handle all of the extravagant features, that is).

Those hoping to see Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: Lost Legacy at their very best will certainly be impressed with this PC release, with it bringing with it plenty of visual options to ensure that every sight is simply breath-taking. Of course, a lot of it will come down to what your PC can handle, but if you can hit Ultra graphic settings whilst playing at a 4K resolution with a 60fps frame rate, you’re going to be BLOWN away. In fact, the frame rate can be unlocked, so it can go even higher again, whilst extras such as resolution scaling ensure that everything looks sharp and beautiful. Add to that the ultra-wide monitor support and players will quickly find that it ticks every box when it comes to offering a fancy PC port. And hey, it manages to look great with lower settings in place too, with players able to customise the likes of the texture quality, resolution, shadows, and so forth to suit their hardware – you don’t NEED a super-duper PC to simply enjoy these worthwhile adventures.

“I KNEW it was going to look awesome on my gaming PC, but I didn’t expect it to impress me so much on the Steam Deck too.”

Whilst it doesn’t hit the astounding heights seen on a juiced-up PC, playing Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection feels equally impressive on the Steam Deck. I’ve spent hours playing with Medium settings (with a bit of tinkering for some fancy extras) and the game is easily handling a locked 40fps frame rate. You can go even higher if you prefer, but for the sake of frame rate consistency across all sequences (as well as enhanced battery life), that 40fps limit feels like it hits the sweet spot. You can make it even prettier again and lock to 30fps if you prefer, with plenty of room for flexibility to get the experience you want on the Steam Deck.

I just can’t emphasise enough how impressed I was playing the game on the Steam Deck. Whilst the handheld device has offered plenty of wonderful surprises since its release, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection really looks and feels exceptional. I KNEW it was going to look awesome on my gaming PC, but I didn’t expect it to impress me so much on the Steam Deck too.

We awarded Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection with a perfect ten when it released on the PlayStation 5, and I can’t think of any reason why we wouldn’t do it again on PC. Heck, you can even hook a DualSense Controller up to your PC and take advantage of all of the fancy haptic feedback and trigger resistance if you like, allowing players to experience both games as if they were playing them on the PlayStation 5. Sony’s support of PC gaming has been ramped up over the years and this port proves that they’re really taking it seriously, with Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection bringing with it everything that the title offered on the PlayStation 5 without the shackles that the console has.

I suppose we do have one complaint: the lack of a Nathan Drake Collection on PC. Sure, it’s great to be able to play through Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: Lost Legacy, but there’ll be plenty of players who haven’t experienced the original (and also excellent) trilogy of games. Hopefully it’s something PlayStation Studios have in the pipeline…

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection Review
10/10

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection was an amazing package on the PlayStation 5, but it looks and feels even better on PC – especially if you have a powerful gaming rig that can play it at its highest graphical and performance settings. It’s great to play on the Steam Deck too, with a consistent 40fps frame rate on medium settings ensuring it looks and plays smoothly.

It’s just a really, REALLY impressive port of two already amazing games, with PC gamers finally able to experience one of the PlayStation’s most beloved and critically acclaimed franchises. Whether you’re planning on playing on a souped-up gaming PC or on your Steam Deck, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection is simply unmissable.
